Frequently Asked Questions

What is MyCal?
MyCal is an easy way to text/email events to your Google Calendar. Text the keyword 'mycal' with your event information (as you would say it) to 41411 or email it to mycal@nihaargupta.com with the event sentence as the subject line and mycal will intelligently parse the who's, when's and where's of the event and save it to your Google Calendar.

How does it work?
MyCal parses your text for time and location information and intelligently determines the right date and time as well as location info (such as address, nearest subways, & cross streets) for your event.

Do you have some more examples?
tennis with tony sparks at riverside park sat 3pm
clan outing at bowlmore lanes next thurs 5-8pm
dinner with bobby digital at macondo tonight at 830
trip to DC with rza today at 3

For texts remember to add the keyword 'mycal' in front of each text

What else?
You can also specify your own address using the @ character and MyCal will automatically add it to the same events later . For example:

appt with dr octagon @ 89th and 5th tomorrow 11am

MyCal will then use the same location if you added the event later

appt with dr octagon fri 2pm

How is this different from Google's own SMS feature?
MyCal was designed to be dead simple to use. It came about as a need I had to easily create events instead of filling out forms and finding all the information myself. Hope you find it useful as well.
